Srikandi Bukit Asam Establishes Synergy with Women in the Mining and Energy Sector to Increase the Role of Women in the Mining Industry PT Bukit Asam Tbk, in collaboration with Srikandi Bukit Asam and Women in Mining and Energy Indonesia, hosted the Women Leadership Series #6 event with the theme "The Power of Female Leadership".

This event was organized to share inspiration and support for women in the mining sector to take on leadership roles, as well as to strengthen women's involvement in all lines of the company's business.

Farida Thamrin, Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), in her opening remarks, highlighted the importance of women's leadership roles, particularly in the mining sector.

"Women remain a minority in the mining sector and significant steps are required to support and provide opportunities for women in leadership positions," said Farida.

Nur Hygiawati Rahayu, Director of Manpower, Ministry of PPN/Bappenas, the main speaker at the Women Leadership Series #6 stated that women are multitaskers. However, women would need holistic support both at home and at work.

"Women are special creatures who can play multiple roles at once, but still need a strong support system to reach their full potential," said Hygiawati.

Hygiawati also discussed various important topics during the discussion session, including the challenges women face in the workplace, especially in the mining sector, how to respond to job promotions so that they are viewed as professionals rather than based on their gender, strategies for maintaining mental health and creating work-life balance, and efforts to reduce the gender gap by involving both parties so that gender equality becomes a shared responsibility rather than just a women's issue.

On this occasion, Srikandi Bukit Asam and Women in Mining and Energy held a symbolic launch of their collaboration. Juliana, Chair of Srikandi Bukit Asam, stated her hope that this collaboration would become a new initiative to strengthen the synergy and solidarity of women in the mining sector.

"This is a concrete step that is expected to further expand the role of women, and open the door for more women to contribute to the mining industry," said Juliana.

Noormaya Muchlis, Executive Director of Women in Mining and Energy Indonesia, stated that this collaboration is an honor and a significant achievement that aligns with the vision and mission of Women in Mining and Energy Indonesia to promote gender equality in the mining and energy sector. She explained that this collaboration will include three programs: the Women Leadership Series, STEM Mentorship, and Master Class.

According to Maya, women now make up only 10–11 percent of the workforce in the mining industry. “We strongly encourage women to take leadership roles at all levels. We would also want to thank PT Bukit Asam Tbk for providing an open forum for women to develop and open opportunities to take on leadership roles," said Maya.

With the Women Leadership Series #6 event, PTBA intends to inspire more women to join and work in the mining industry, as well as to support an inclusive work environment, mutual respect, and gender equality.
