
PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk or PTBA through its subsidiary, PT Internasional Prima Coal (IPC), conducted acquisition of PT Tabalong Prima Resources (TPR) and PT Mitra HAsrat Bersama (MHB). The acquisition process was conducted on 2015, 28th May. Both companies are worth US $ 36 million. PTBA early stages of the transaction amounted to US $ 12.3 million or 34 per cent. It is expected that within next 6 months. PTBA will acquire 100 percent shares of both companies.
TPR is a company located in Tabalong regency, South Kalimantan. It is engaged in coal handling and has 292 million tons resources and 109 million tons mineable reserves. All these reserves are within its 3,145 hectares concession area for operations and production, with an average stripping ratio (SR) of 4.16.
MHB engaged in infrastructure and coal transportation. MHB has 300 feet dock with 10,000 DWT capacity and stockpile on 60 hectares area supported by loading and unloading facility with conveyor system at Barito river edge. In addition, MHB has 85.5 km hauling road facilities that connects TPR site to MHB dock at Barito river edge. The existence both companies can supporting the IPC performance as its parent company. All MHB infrastructures are prepared to serve coal transportation from several other potential coal producers around TPR and MHB the operational area.
In addition, since June 2015 Tarahan port is available for 210,000 DWT vessels. Now there are four docks, in addition to previous two docks with 80,000 DWT capacity and can be used for Panamax size vessels. The other dock is for 10,000 DWT that often used by barge ships.
PTBA now using electric power generated by its own power plant. In Tanjung Enim, electricity produced from 3 x 10 Megawatts power plant are used for mining operations as well as other supporting facilities. While to move equipment in port operations sourced from 2 x 8 Megawatts power plant at Tarahan port.
Banjarsari 2 x 110 Megawatts power plant constructed by PTBA subsidiaries, PT Bukit Pembangkit Innovativ in Lahat, South Sumatra is expected commercially operation in June 2015. While Banko Tengah 2 x 620 Megawatts power plant (Sumsel 8) began its ground breaking in the second half of 2015, is planned to operate commercially in 2019. PTBA is expected to generate 1,500 Megawatts electricity. Besides the mentioned above power plants, there are still Peranap power plant with 800-1200 Megawatts in Indragiri Hulu, Riau and 1,000 Megawatts Inalum power plant in North Sumatra. Both are in feasibility study stage.
