PTBA's total coal production in the first nine months of 2023 reached 31.9 million tons, growing 15 percent from 27.7 million tons at the same period in 2022.
This increase in production corresponds to a 15% increase in coal sales volume to 27.0 million tons. The company continues to increase its export portion measurably while also attending to domestic needs.
The company generated export sales of 11.2 million tons until the third quarter of 2023, a 24 percent increase over the same time the previous year. Meanwhile, the realization of Domestic Market Obligations (DMO) was recorded at 51 percent.
"PTBA continues to optimize operational performance achievements and implement efficiency in all company business processes until the end of 2023 in accordance with our targets," said Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Farida Thamrin.
As of Quarter III 2023, PTBA recorded a net profit of IDR 3.8 trillion. The company reported IDR 27.7 trillion in revenue and IDR 36.0 trillion in total assets as of September 30, 2023.
Strategic projects are still being carried out to support the Company's performance. The Sumsel-8 Mine Mouth Steam Power Plant (2x660 MW) has been operating commercially from October 7, 2023, or since it achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) status.
This power plant applies Supercritical Steam Generator technology which is efficient and environmentally friendly, as well as Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) technology to reduce exhaust gas emissions. This FGD technology can reduce sulfur dioxide from exhaust gas emissions of coal-fired power plants.
Also, on October 12, 2023, PTBA and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), also known as PT KAI, reached an agreement on a cooperation framework for the development of coal transportation on the Tanjung Enim Baru - Keramasan link. This is consistent with the Company's target of reaching 52 million tons of annual coal transportation capacity via railway by 2024.
