The series of activities began with the Launching of the HLHS Jingle by the HLHS committee, marking the beginning of the spirit of togetherness in protecting the environment. The highlight of the real action was shown through the River Walk to clean up waste, where participants managed to collect a total of 3.4 tons of waste. This activity not only cleaned the environment, but also raised awareness of the importance of keeping the river clean as a vital part of the ecosystem.
To complete the event, Bukit Asam also organized a Plastic Creation Workshop. With facilitators from the Sudut Kreasi, participants were invited to turn plastic waste into valuable products, such as key chains. This workshop aims to educate the public about the potential of plastic waste recycling and encourage creativity in reducing waste.
This environmental conservation activity received full support and participation from various stakeholders, showing a strong synergy between the company, government, and community. From the government, Mrs. Febriati Putri Utami as Plt. Head of Control, Pollution and Environmental Damage, Muara Enim Environmental Agency, Mr. Drs. Edi Susanto MM as Head of Lawang Kidul Sub-District, as well as representatives from related agencies and the community also participated in the activity. The presence of various parties emphasizes a joint commitment to preserve the environment for a better future.
"This series of World Environment Day 2025 activities is a concrete manifestation of Bukit Asam's commitment to actively contribute to environmental sustainability, especially in combating plastic pollution," said Mr. Yuhendri Wisra, representing Bukit Asam’s Tanjung Enim Mining Site General Manager.
On the same occasion, Bukit Asam's Director of Operations and Production, Mr. Ilham Yacob, emphasized, "As part of responsible operations, we realize the importance of the company's active role in maintaining the balance of nature. Real actions such as river cleaning and plastic waste recycling are not just ceremonial activities, but part of the corporate culture that we instill. We are committed to continuing to innovate environmentally friendly mining practices and contribute positively to the communities and ecosystems around our operational areas."
Adhe, a participant from PT PAMA, said, "The river walk was a memorable experience that raised awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and preserving local culture in Tanjung Enim. I hope that Bukit Asam continues to be an example in environmental awareness, with similar activities that can be continuously improved for the benefit of the community and the environment in a sustainable manner," he said.
Bukit Asam will continue to strive to implement best practices in environmental management throughout its operations, as well as actively support initiatives aimed at creating a clean and sustainable environment for future generations.
