
JAKARTA – PT Bukit Asam Tbk ( PTBA ) is targeting coal export volumes increased by 40 % this year to 23.5 million tons compared to 2013 by 9.6 million tons . Joko Pramod, Corporate Secretary of Bukit Asam, said the composition of exports this year will reach 55 % of total sales volume. The rest will be aimed at the domestic market.
Bukit Asam's coal sales volume target this year of 24.7 million tons, up 38 % compared to sales in 2013 amounted to 17.8 million tons.
“The increase in sales volume as a strategic effort by the company, of which prioritize high-calorie coal sales through export markets, “he said on Thursday.
Milawarma, President Director of Bukit Asam, said that Bukit Asam’s coal has a very good quality, not only in terms of calorific value, but also the content of impurities such as ash and sulfur.
Some destination countries for Bukit Asam’s coal export like Taiwan, India, China, and Japan are well aware of the importance of getting coal with a low impurity content. Coal in China has high ash content, even in India its reach 40 %. While Bukit Asam’s coal has only have 8% of sulfur content. “They are very aware that the impurity due to coal ash treatment was very expensive. We could be marketed at a premium price of coal, “he said .
Bukit Asam sales target will be supplemented from their own production of 19.8 million tons, consisting of 18,65 million tons from Tanjung Enim Mining Unit. The remaining 1.15 million tons came from the company's subsidiary, PT International Prima Coal and PT Batubara Bukit Kendi.
Other contributions are expected to come from subsidiaries of 3.98 million tons, respectively 3.3 million tons of PT Bukit Asam Prima and 0,68 million tons of PT International Prima Coal.
Development
Joko said to support the increasing of sales and production volume, Bukit Asam Tarahan port capacity increasing from 14 million tons to 25 million tonnes per year. Capacity building of targeted port has been completed and start operate in the first semester of 2014.
“Bukit Asam build an additional new jetty with berthing capacity 150.000 - 200 thousand dwt beside jetties long with capacity sandar 80 thousand DWT,” he said. Bukit Asam would also build two additionals RCD (tool unloading coal from railroad cars), so that the number of RCD later into four units.
In addition, in order to ensure operational reliability, Bukit Asam Tarahan port has completed the construction of a steam power plant (PLTU) Tarahan Port 2x8 megawatts (MW) in December 2013, so companies no longer use electric power COMPANY PT PLN (persero).
Other development projects, Banjarsari PLTU 2x110 MW began operation targeted in second semester in 2014.
