In a series of events commemorating World Environment Day commemorated every June 5, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) undertakes an expedition of the Enim River for three days, starting Thursday to Saturday, June 28-30, 2018. This activity is Clean River Enim Action 2018 themed "Restore River to Its Function and Time to Relieve River from Plastic Waste". Launched in front of PTBA Head Office Tanjung Enim by PTBA Director of Operations and Production, Suryo Eko Hadianto, an expedition team consisting of representative volunteers from PTBA, Muara Enim Environment Office, Lawang Kidul Sub-district, Lawang Kidul Police, and Tanjung Enim Koramil and forum environmental activists, namely the Tanjung Enim Family Entrepreneurs and Enviromental Entrepreneurs, started the clean action of Enim River from plastic waste at Bedegung tourism site, Tanjung Agung sub-district to Lebak Budi. On the 2nd day, the action will start from Muara Emil Village, Tanjung Agung to Darmo Village, Lawang Kidul. Meanwhile, on the last day, the action starts from the village of Darmo to the location of Taman Cinta Bukit Asam. Suryo Eko Hadianto said, this activity aims to clean the river from plastic waste and build public awareness to minimize plastic waste, because the plastic includes materials that require a minimum of 20 years to be decomposed on the ground, so if this plastic waste not well managed, then what happens then the soil is not fertile and the plant is difficult to grow. "We ask the community's concern to use plastic as minimum as possible and if using a plastic must be processed in such a way and not thrown away carelessly, let alone thrown into the river," said Suryo Eko Hadianto. PTBA in its operation is very concerned about the environment, one of which is always carrying out supervision and monitoring of rivers around the company's IUP area. "PTBA has implemented ISO on the environment, therefore we guarantee mining waste is in accordance with water quality standard," he added. It is expected that with the implementation of this activity the community can be aware of the awareness of neatness and cleanliness of the environment, so that by jointly doing environmental care activities, Tanjung Enim clean will soon be created. "Moreover later as a tourist destination, Tanjung Enim must be a clean, neat and beautiful area by tourists, so they can tell about how beautiful Tanjung Enim and make others want to always come here," concluded Suryo Eko Hadianto.
