77th Mining and Energy Day, Bukit Asam’s Commitment to Contribute to the Country Jakarta, September 28, 2022 – In line with the 77th Mining and Energy Day’s theme "Energy Rises Stronger", PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is committed to maintaining national energy security and optimizing contributions to state revenues to support the national economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the 2022 Work Plan and Cost Budget, PTBA's Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) this year is 8.9 million tons. During January-June 2022, PTBA’s allocation of coal supply for domestic needs has reached 106 percent of the annual target or 9.4 million tons of the 15.9 million tons total production in Semester I 2022.

The Company also showed positive performance and was able to contribute Rp 9 trillion to state revenue in the first half of this year, consisting of taxes Rp 2.7 trillion and Non-Tax State Revenue Rp 6.3 trillion. As of Semester I 2022, PTBA posted a net profit of Rp 6.2 trillion, 246 percent increase compared to the same period last year (year on year/yoy) of Rp 1.8 trillion.

"Bukit Asam will continue to support energy supply for the country, so that our national economy will rise stronger in the future," said PTBA President Director Arsal Ismail.

PTBA is also committed to its transformation to support the government in achieving Net Zero Emission target by 2060 or earlier, in line with PTBA's vision to become a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment.

New and renewable energy (NRE) continues to expand. Through BUMN synergy, PTBA has built several solar power plants including on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road with a capacity of 400 kilowatt-peak (kWp), officially operating on September 21, 2022.

PTBA had also built solar power plant at Soekarno Hatta Airport in collaboration with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). Fully operational since October 1, 2020, this solar power plant consists of 720 solar panel systems with photovoltaics and a maximum capacity of 241 kWp, installed in the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) Building.

"PTBA is very concerned with the issue of climate change and supports the Government's policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions. We hope that the targets for reducing carbon emissions can be achieved to maintain energy security," said Arsal.

PTBA mining activities always implements Good Mining Practice and decarbonization programs including revegetation, converting oil-fueled mining equipment into electricity-based ones, digitalizing, and encouraging technological innovation for decarbonization.
