Memoir of Bayur Bay Port
Special Coal Port Bayur Bay, is located in capital city of West Sumatra province, Padang. The 534 hectares port owned by PTBA. The activity inside the 186-meter pier is not only for loading coal to ship, but also to unload coal from ships or barges to supply coal for Semen Padang in Indarung.
In the past, coal from Ombilin mine transported by rail to this 28,100 square meters waters area dock. It is located at coordinates 000 to 58 "- 57" SL / 000-25 '- 03' 'EA.
The dock has area for 90,000 tons coal pillage and able to berth of 40,000 DWT ships. With daily loading rate capacity of 10,000 tons and hourly unloading rate of 500 tons, can ship 8,040,897 tons coal during 1994-1998 period. The highest shipment (1995) reached 1,993,436 tons, or 99.7 percent of the port capacity.
