Bukit Asam Once Again Received Gold and Green PROPER

PT Bukit Asam Tbk once again received Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan (PROPER) award in Gold category for the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit (UPTE) of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and in Green category for the PTBA Tarahan Port Unit (Peltar) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Republic of Indonesia.

The Gold PROPER award was handed over directly by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin together with the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Siti Nurbaya to PTBA President Director Arviyan Arifin at the Vice Presidential Palace, Wednesday (1/8).

As of today, Bukit Asam has received 7 Gold PROPER in a row since 2013, while Tarahan Port Unit received the Green PROPER for the second time since 2018.

From 2018 to 2019, Bukit Asam has carried out various sustainable and consistent community and environmental empowerments around the company's operational areas to provide added value to the community and the environment; for example, the Eco-Edu Zoo Park and the Eco-Friendly Batik K honest Village at UPTE and the Tegal Island Education Ship at Peltar.

The Eco-Edu Zoo Park was once a post mining area that Bukit Asam turned into a mini zoo and jogging track for the community. The local youth was appointed to manage the facility and give education to visitors about the animals and the environment. Bukit Asam also intended to conserve flora and fauna and to educate the public about the importance of ecosystem balance by protecting the environment.

While the Eco-Friendly Batik Village program in Tanjung Enim had main objectives to preserve cultural heritage and local wisdom through batik motifs creation while also improving community prosperity at Batik Kujur Village. The batik used natural fabrics material and natural coloring material made from plants, such as noni, jengkol, and secang. Now, Batik Kujur Village was capable of producing 200 pieces of batik cloth per day and thus improved the economy of Batik Kujur village.

At Peltar, we supported the children’s education on Tegal Island by conducting an empowerment program called Education Ship for Tegal Island, transporting teachers back and forth from home to Tegal Island PKBM Educational Institution.

Aligned with Bukit Asam’s values in environmental management and community empowerment, the various community and environment programs as well as Government appreciation through the Gold and Green PROPER, truly showed the significance of this programs and motivated us to continue giving better contribution for the community.

The seven-in-a-row Gold PROPER achievement had certainly encouraged Bukit Asam to continue to grow and develop mutually with the community, building harmonious relationships in the midst of a sustainable environment, and providing the widest possible benefits to stakeholders.
