PTBA and Karang Raja Village - Tough Collaboration Realizing Sustainable Climate Change Program (Proklim) Muara Enim, June 23, 2025 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) confirmed its commitment in supporting environmental sustainability initiatives by providing stimulant assistance to Karang Raja Village in the framework of the Climate Village (Proklim) program. The assistance in the form of 50 fruit plant seedlings (mango, durian, avocado, and pete) and 50 biopore pipes were symbolically handed over to the Karang Raja Village Government at the Karang Raja Village Office, Muara Enim District, which was also witnessed by representatives of the Muara Enim Regency Environmental Service (DLH) on Monday, June 23, 2025.

This support is part of PTBA's ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Karang Raja Village community in facing the challenges of climate change and mitigating potential environmental disasters. Fruit plant seedlings will be distributed to schools in Karang Raja Village as a medium for environmental education for students, fostering ecological awareness from an early age. Meanwhile, biopore pipes will be installed by the village government at points prone to waterlogging to increase soil absorption and reduce the risk of flooding.

Dedy Saptaria Rosa, Sustainability Division Head of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, stated, "This support is part of PTBA's ongoing commitment in encouraging the strengthening of village community capacity in facing climate change challenges. The donation of plant seeds and biopore pipes is not just a symbolic action, but part of a long-term collaborative strategy to make Karang Raja Village a model for an environment-based assisted village."

He added that PTBA hopes this program can inspire ecological awareness and become a concrete step in flood risk mitigation. "Going forward, we will continue to expand collaboration with the village government and DLH to strengthen the Karang Raja Village’s position in obtaining the title of Proklim Utama to Proklim Lestari," Dedy concluded.

Febianti, Pit. Head of Pollution and Environmental Damage Management of Muara Enim Regency Environmental Agency, appreciated the real support from PTBA. "The synergy between the business world, village government, and the community is the key to the success of the Climate Village Program (Proklim), especially in realizing villages that are adaptive and resilient to climate change," she said. He also hopes that this collaboration will continue to be strengthened so that Karang Raja Village can become one of the pilot villages to be recognized as a Proklim Lestari by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment.

Karang Raja Village Head, Octa Vianti said, "We are very grateful for the support provided by PTBA and the Environmental Agency in an effort to make Karang Raja Village a village that cares and is resilient to climate change. This assistance is very useful for reforestation, environmental management, education, and concrete solutions to reduce waterlogging," she said. Ms. Octa is optimistic that, with the support of all parties, Karang Raja Village will be able to achieve the title of Proklim Utama predicate and move further towards Proklim Lestari.

The handover of this assistance is a continuation of PTBA's commitment to make Karang Raja Village a Fostered Village, which has previously been preceded by an irrigation program based on Solar Power Plants (PLTS) and 32 Ha organic farming development. Currently, Karang Raja Village is in the verification stage of the Provincial DLH team to get the Proklim Utama title, with the next target being the Proklim Lestari title from the Indonesian Ministry of Environment.

PTBA together with the Karang Raja Village Government and DLH Muara Enim Regency are optimistic that these sustainable programs will bring Karang Raja Village towards achieving the Sustainable Proklim title as a form of shared responsibility in protecting the environment and dealing with climate change.
