Green Mining, Bukit Asam (PTBA) Planting Trees Together on Ex-Mining Land To commemorate World Environment Day, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) organized a Green Mining by planting trees together at the Botanical Garden, Muara Enim on Friday, June 14, 2024. The Botanical Garden, also known as Collection Park, is a post-mining area that has been transformed into a tourist destination in Tanjung Enim.

The tree planting activity was carried out by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Director of Operations & Production Suhedi, Head of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Division of Muara Enim Regency Environmental Service Meidina, Lawang Kidul District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam), PTBA employees, and business partners.

There were 150 trees planted, including 40 agarwood seedlings, 40 damar mata kucing, 40 meranti, and 30 pines. In addition to planting trees, the Green Mining event also released some birds into the nature.

Green Mining aims to restore the environment, increase carbon storage, and reduce the impact of climate change.

On this occasion, Suhedi said that Green Mining is a manifestation of the company's commitment to implementing the best mining practices (Good Mining Practice) with decarbonization programs. "Green Mining is an example of our shared enthusiasm and commitment in achieving the company's vision to become a world-class energy company that cares about the environment," said Suhedi.

"To meet the government's Net Zero Emissions target (carbon neutral emissions) by 2060 or earlier, all parties must work together. Let's continue to strengthen partnerships and cooperation across sectors to find innovative solutions for environmental recovery efforts," he added.

As of March 2024, PTBA's total reclamation area had reached 2,222.08 hectares. Meanwhile, the overall area under Watershed Areas rehabilitation as of March 2024 had reached 5,199.18 hectares.

This revegetation program is part of PTBA's carbon management roadmap until 2060 which will be implemented and developed sustainably in every line of the company to yield optimal results.
