To produce excellence human resources in mining sector, PT Inalum (Persero), PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Timah Tbk, and PT Antam Tbk who are members of State Owned Enterprise of Holding Mine Industry established Bukit Asam- Mining Industry Community College or “Akademi Komunitas Industri Pertambangan Bukit Asam (AKIPBA)”. AKIPBA becomes a manifestation of company’s commitment in fulfilling human resources that have the competence to meet the demands of industry, especially in mining sector. In management, according from the mandate of the Ministry of SOE, AKIPBA is under the auspices of “Yayasan Keluarga Besar Bukit Asam (Yakasaba)” with financing sourced from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of four companies in holding mining company. This implementation also refers to the cooperation agreement on the Vocational Education / Diploma Program 1 (D1) of Bukit Asam – Mining Industry Community College dated March 19, 2018. AKIPBA is responsible to provide professional vocational education to produce excellence human resources in mining industry. AKIPBA also responsible to conduct research and community service activities, improve the quality of institution by taking into local resources and wisdom, and support the national development of mining industry in optimizing of natural resources. Having the ambition become the best vocational education institution in the mining industry with a world class standard that’s concern about mining environment, AKIPBA implements the determination in three courses, there are Mining Equipment Operation Technique, Mining Product Processing Technique, and Mine Equipment Maintenance Technique. Lectures also apply two educational models namely Industry Based Education (IBE) and Production Based Education (PBE) through block system weekly and modular. Now, AKIPBA has a team of permanent lecturers who are competent, professional, and experienced in their field. The team is strengthened by a full –time faculty team as well as a team of instructors and from four holding mining company. AKIPBA also supported by the assistance from Bandung Manufacturing Polytechnic under the agreement of Yakasaba and Bandung Manufacturing Polytechnic on Human Resources Development, Education, and Technology signed on February 14th, 2018. Selection of student acceptance is done by each holding member of mining company. Participants who pass the selection in each holding member will receive education in AKIPBA. Students who qualified will receive educational scholarship without an official bond, so AKIPBA graduate are not necessarily recruited by the holding of mining company. The AKIPBA lecture will commence in September 2017 at PTBA Learning Center – Tanjung Enim.
