Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road Officially Operates to Support the G20 Presidency

Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road Officially Operates to Support the G20 Presidency Bali, September 21, 2022 - The Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road is officially operational. The Power Plant, constructed by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI), will support the activities and operations of PT Jasamarga Bali Tol (JBT), a subsidiary of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. The construction of Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road is a form of collaboration and synergy between SOEs in supporting Indonesia's G20 Presidency 2022.

The Solar Power Plant was inaugurated by the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster, Assistant Deputy for Infrastructure Services of the Ministry of SOEs Hendrika Nora Osloi Sinaga, Chair of the G20 Project Management Office (PMO) of the Ministry of SOEs Reynaldi Istanto, President Director of PTBA Arsal Ismail, President Director of Jasa Marga Subakti Syukur, President Director of PT IDX Zulfarli, and President Director of PT JBT I Ketut Adiputra Karang on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

Deputy Mayor of Denpasar I Kadek Agus Aryawibawa, President Director of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Donny Arsal, Director of Business Development of PTBA Rafli Yandra, Director of Finance and Risk Management of PTBA Farida Thamrin, Director of Operations and Production of PTBA Suhedi, Director of HR of PTBA Suherman, Director of Finance and Risk Management of Jasa Marga Ade Wahyu, and President Commissioner of PT JBT Bagus Cahya Arinta B also attended the event.

In his remarks, the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster explained that the construction of the Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road is in line with the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali which aims to preserve Bali's nature. To realize this vision, the Bali Provincial Government has issued Governor Regulation Number 45 of 2019 concerning Bali Clean Energy, one of which includes the use of environmentally friendly energy that will improve Bali tourism image.

“Bali must have more excellence in quality and more competitive onwards. Hence, it is necessary to develop environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism, one of which is realized through the construction of the Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road that not only supporting the transportation function, but also showing local culture and wisdom as Bali identity," said Wayan Koster.

Assistant Deputy for Infrastructure Services at the Ministry of SOEs Hendrika Nora Osloi Sinaga expressed her appreciation to PTBA and Jasa Marga collaboration, a step to realize global carbon emission reductions, which is one of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency agenda focuses.

 “The toll road business process collaborating with the Solar Power Plant construction is a very good breakthrough. The Ministry of SOEs strongly supports this collaboration, which is in line with the target of achieving the national energy from New and Renewable Energy (NRE) of 23 percent by 2025," said Nora.

PTBA President Director Arsal Ismail said that the company has a vision to become a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment. The company's transformation includes an expanding portfolio of new and renewable energy (NRE) based power plants, in line with one of the three focuses of Indonesia's G20 Presidency agenda, that is, a sustainable energy transition.

"The company's business expansion into the new and renewable energy sector continues. This includes PTBA and Jasa Marga collaboration to develop Solar Power Plant on the Jasa Marga Group toll road. This step is an effort to support the reduction of global carbon emissions," said Arsal.

Having a maximum capacity of 400 Kilowatt-peak (kWp), the solar panels are installed at six points, each at enter and exit access at the motorway at three toll gates on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road. The length of the solar panels for each of these points is one kilometer. The electricity supply obtained through the Solar Power Plant will generate environmentally friendly source of electricity for Public Street Lighting lights, operational offices and also toll gates on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road.

Jasa Marga President Director Subakti Syukur expressed his gratitude to the Bali Provincial Government and the Ministry of SOEs for their encouragement to implement environmentally friendly technology on toll roads through the use of Solar Power Plant, also for the support for the Bali Mandara Toll Road landscape arrangement program.

Subakti also gave his appreciation to Bukit Asam Group, PT BEI and PT JBT, that have successfully realized the development of Solar Power Plant according to the plan.

“Jasa Marga continues to strive to optimize existing potentials by carrying out various innovations and collaborations that can provide added value for all stakeholders, as well as significant benefits for the community. Hopefully the implementation of this Solar Power Plant can become the first step in presenting other productive programs to generate economic, social, and environmental benefits, in accordance with Jasa Marga's commitment to realizing sustainable toll roads," said Subakti.

The green environment-based Bali-Mandara Toll Road project to support the G20 Presidency in Bali in November 2022, was already complete in the third week of August 2022. This includes landscaping, planting 756,800 mangrove seedlings, tree planting, gardening, construction of green energy Solar Power Plant in collaboration with PT BEI, adding local Balinese culture ornaments at Public Street Lighting, toll gates renovation and Balinese dancer sculptures installation.
