This award demonstrates that the Company has effectively implemented an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) culture. For the record, PTBA has successfully maintained OSH standards, resulting in zero work accidents (zero fatalities) during 2023.
Director of Operations and Production of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, Suhedi, expressed gratitude and appreciation for the award. "OSH culture is part of the principles of Good Mining Practice that we always implement. This is very important for supporting the Company's business and protecting employees. This award is our encouragement to continue to innovate to improve OSH culture," said Suhedi.
Various efforts have been made by PTBA to improve its OSH culture. The company has standards and guidelines in managing mining safety including the OSH Management System (SMK3), Mining Safety Management System (SMKP), ISO 45001 – 2018.
The Golden Rules principles are upheld to ensure health and safety in the operational environment. Golden Rules are basic rules that all employees must follow to ensure work safety and health. A number of SHE (Safety Health & Environment) agents supervise OSH at each of their respective work locations.
In order to mitigate high-risk work environments, the company has developed a Circular that authorizes each employee and work partner to temporarily stop or postpone their work or the work of others in the event that unsafe working conditions are determined.
PTBA also utilizes business process digitalization to improve OSH. The Company developed CISEA (Corporate Information System & Enterprise Application) application, which includes Safety, SHE News and Mine Permit features.
Apart from that, employees’ physical and mental health are maintained through various programs, including a counseling program for employees and monthly 52 KM Fun Walk Challenge With Partners.

As a result, we are committed to continuing to enhance the OSH culture to a sustainable level to support PTBA's vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment," said Suhedi.
Indonesia Best Companies in HSE Implementation 2024 award is an appreciation event given by SWA Media Group to companies in various sectors who have successfully implemented the OSH culture.
Aside from that, the aim of this award is to encourage companies to implement employee protection programs that go beyond simply complying with existing regulations, thereby creating room for innovation, including digital technology utilization.
