Jakarta, May 15, 2025 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) has been recognized for its contribution to the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia by winning two prestigious awards at the 2025 Bina Mitra UMKM Award. The event, held in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, awarded PTBA with the Best Mentor Company (Gold) category, while one of its supported MSMEs, SIBA Batik Kujur, received the Best Assisted MSME (Gold) award.
This recognition highlights PTBA’s strong commitment to supporting sustainable MSME development and contributing to national economic growth.
Dedy Saptaria Rosa, Head of the Sustainability Division at PT Bukit Asam Tbk, expressed his gratitude and pride for the awards received. He said the recognition reflects PTBA’s dedication to empowering MSMEs.
"These awards are both a source of pride and motivation for us to continue strengthening community empowerment through MSME development. We hope our support can help create more job opportunities and reinforce the economy. As part of the MIND ID Group, PTBA is committed to responsible mining practices that benefit society," said Dedy.
PTBA actively provides guidance and support for MSMEs in its operational areas. This aligns with the government’s Asta Cita program, especially point three, which emphasizes quality job creation and entrepreneurship.
To improve financial access, PTBA has offered funding to MSMEs through its Partnership Program from 1992 to 2022. Now, this support is channeled through a partnership with BRI Bank. PTBA also provides business, production, and financial management training for MSMEs. To further enhance skills, PTBA organizes advanced digital-based management training.
Product quality is also improved, especially in packaging, moving from simple plastic to attractive and eco-friendly designs. PTBA provides production equipment to help increase capacity. MSMEs are also encouraged to use environmentally friendly materials, such as switching from synthetic to natural dyes made from plants.
Additional support includes business strategy training, logo design, company profile creation, product photography and catalogs, as well as inventory management. PTBA has also established the Bukit Asam Industrial Center (SIBA) and Rumah BUMN as platforms to help MSMEs promote and sell their products.
In 2024, PTBA conducted 33 training sessions, facilitated MSME participation in 20 exhibitions and bazaars, ran internship and site visit programs, and provided infrastructure support. As a result, 48 assisted MSMEs successfully scaled up in 2024.
One standout example is SIBA Batik Kujur. From just five original artisan groups, it has grown to 12, and has helped produce a new generation of local batik artisans ready to innovate and expand Indonesia’s traditional batik industry.
