Within Nine Months of Operation, Bali-Mandara Toll Road Solar Power Plant Has Successfully Reduced Emissions The Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road built by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI), continues to support the activities and operations of PT Jasamarga Bali Tol (JBT), which is a subsidiary of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (Jasa Marga).

Within 9 months, from September 2022 to June 2023, the Bali-Mandara Toll Solar Power Plant has reduced emissions by 358.4 tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). Meanwhile, electricity production from this solar power plant reached 453,667.2 kilowatt-hours (kWh).

According to PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Business Development Director Rafli Yandra, the synergy with Jasa Marga in the Solar Power Plant development is a manifestation of support in efforts to reduce global carbon emissions.

"The Bali-Mandara Toll Solar Power Plant has been operating very well, generating positive benefits for the new and renewable energy (NRE) business climate in Indonesia, through the use of clean energy that has been successfully applied on a commercial scale. And, of course, it has also contributed to Indonesia's G20 Presidency in November 2022, one of which focuses on the issue of energy transition," said Rafli Yandra.

He went on to say that PTBA has a vision to become a world-class chemical and energy company that cares about the environment. PTBA is undergoing transformation and the portfolio of new and renewable energy (NRE)-based power plants continues to be expanded.

"We continue to strive to optimize existing potentials to contribute to sustainable economic development, with an emphasis on a balance between economic, social and environmental aspects," said Rafli.

Having a maximum capacity of 400 Kilowatt-peak (kWp), the solar panels are installed at six points, each at the entrance and exit of the motorway at the three toll gates of the Bali-Mandara Toll Road. The length of the solar panels for each of these points is one kilometer (km).

The electricity supply generated from the Solar Power Plant is an environmentally friendly source of electricity for Public Street Lighting, operating offices and also toll gates at the Bali-Mandara Toll Road.

Following the success of developing the Solar Power Plant on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road, on February 24, 2023 PTBA and Jasa Marga signed an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Development of Solar Power Plant in other toll road areas managed by the Jasa Marga Group.

Furthermore, in collaboration with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), PTBA has constructed a Solar Power Plant at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The Solar Power Plant is located in the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) building and has a maximum capacity of 241 kWp. This Solar Power Plant has been completely operational since October 1, 2020.
