The award recognizes companies that consistently contribute to regional development through their Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs.
Hamdani B. Yusdi, Head of the HR, General Services, Finance & CSR Department at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Tarahan Port, expressed his gratitude for the award, emphasizing the importance of collaboration. He encouraged all stakeholders to continue strengthening synergy to drive positive change.
"The recognition we have received serves as a motivation for Bukit Asam to continue supporting development in Lampung Province through our TJSL programs. We are committed to actively contributing to poverty alleviation efforts. Through strong synergy, every small step we take together will lead to significant change," said Hamdani.
PTBA’s flagship program, Coastal Rangers Cuku NyiNyi, aims to empower local communities while preserving the environment in Lampung. In collaboration with the Forest Farmer Group (KTH) Bina Jaya Lestari, PTBA has partnered with the Sidodadi Village community to help protect and preserve the coastal ecosystem in the Cuku NyiNyi Ecotourism Area.
"By preserving the coastal ecosystem, we are ensuring that, in the long term, fishermen will find it easier to catch fish, biodiversity will thrive, coastal erosion can be prevented, and the air quality will improve," said Hamdani.
PTBA also supports Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK) in Sidodadi Village to foster the development of the Cuku NyiNyi Mangrove Ecotourism Area. One such initiative is the establishment of the Kerang Unyu Joint Business Group (KUBE), a shell craft business that has empowered 10 housewives from low-income households. This initiative has led to a significant increase in income for the community members involved.
To date, PTBA and KTH Bina Jaya Lestari have successfully planted 40,000 mangrove seedlings across 13.21 hectares in the Cuku NyiNyi Mangrove Ecotourism Area. Additionally, 500 coral reef seedlings have been transplanted in a 1.03-hectare conservation area, and 850 seagrass seedlings have been planted over 8.98 hectares.
In addition, PTBA makes significant contributions in the areas of education, health, and the empowerment of MSMEs in Lampung.
In the field of education, PTBA provides the "Ayo Sekolah" Scholarships to students from around the company’s operational area. In 2024, a total of 381 students from Lampung benefited from the Ayo Sekolah Scholarships.
Bukit Asam also have Bidiksiba Scholarship for high school graduates from underprivileged families around its operational area. In 2024, a total of 41 students from the Tarahan Port region received this scholarships.
To enhance the quality of education, PTBA launched the "Learning to Count with the Gasing Method" program, which emphasizes learning that is easy, fun, and enjoyable. The program was attended by 144 participants, including 48 teachers and 96 elementary school students in Bandar Lampung.
In the health sector, PTBA enhanced services for individuals classified as People with Social Welfare Problems (PMKS) through collaboration with IZI Lampung. Additionally, through the SP3D program (Participation Contribution to Increase Regional Development), PTBA donated 16 ambulances and 2 hearses to the Lampung Provincial Government.
In the field of MSME empowerment, PTBA through Rumah BUMN, supports local entrepreneurs by improving their competencies. This includes providing training, technical guidance, and assistance in product development and marketing.
In Lampung Province, PTBA has also constructed three Solar Power Plants (PLTS) to power agricultural irrigation pumps. These include the Trimulyo PLTS (38.5 kWp) in Pesawaran, the Rejosari PLTS (52.8 kWp) in Central Lampung, and the Lugusari PLTS (23.4 kWp) in Pringsewu.
“Before the solar-powered irrigation systems, farmers could only harvest once a year due to their reliance on rain-fed rice fields. Now, they are able to plant two to three times a year,” said Hamdani.
With a spirit of close collaboration among the central government, local governments, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), the private sector, and the community, PTBA remains optimistic that Lampung Province can grow into a strategically developed region. “We believe this collaboration will continue to strengthen in the future, bringing greater prosperity to the people of Lampung,” Hamdani concluded.
