Starting from a Warehouse, MSE Batik Fostered by PTBA Successfully Upgrading
June 06, 2023
Lela purchased enough tools and material with an initial capital of IDR 10 million from her parents. First, the Batik Kujur production was done in a small warehouse behind her house, next to the chicken coop.
Because of the limited space, even the cloth dyeing process had to be carried out in the river by bringing all of the tools and material. Lela encountered a variety of challenges when she started her Batik Kujur business.
In 2020, Lela decided to join PTBA Foster Partners. She secured a loan from PTBA's Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK) to establish and expand the manufacturing site, as well as to add more tools and batik material, such as wickets and permanent tubs for dyeing cloth.
Since joining PTBA Foster Partners, Lela has started to actively participate in exhibitions and bazaars organized by the Company and other institutions and they are quite profitable. LA Batik Kujur is becoming well-known in the general community and the number of orders is gradually increasing.
"As a business owner, I greatly benefit from the PUMK Program. The program helps the company I founded from scratch to grow. Also, I am actively participating in training about business management organized by the Bukit Asam BUMN Rumah Team. The training was extremely beneficial for running a business efficiently and effectively," Lela said.
Because of PTBA fostering program, the sales turnover of LA Batik Kujur products has significantly increased. Lela acknowledged that she was very grateful to PTBA's assistance in helping small businesses like hers grow.
"Hopefully PTBA will continue to provide opportunities for local Micro and Small Enterprises to develop their businesses, and to open possibilities for the community to participate in the Corporate PUMK Program," said Lela.
LA Batik Kujur is a business in the batik crafts industry that produce batik cloth with a distinctive design typical to the Tanjung Enim Hamlet in the Muara Enim Regency.
