Bukit Asam (PTBA) Distributes Relief to Flood Victims in Lawang Kidul PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) acted immediately to help the residents of Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, who were affected by the flood on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Several Lawang Kidul District's impacted areas by flooding including Talang Gabus, Tanjung Enim Hamlet, Lingga Village, Tanjung Raja, Karang Raja, Klawas, Pasar Tanjung Enim Village.

The water disturbed residents’ daily activities and impeded traffic. Many residents were forced to evacuate their homes, which were submerged in water.

PTBA Sustainability Team provided aid such as food and mineral water. Bukit Asam Medika Hospital (RS BAM) Medical Team distributed medical aid and offered free treatment. PTBA Rescue Team helped evacuate residents and clean up mud. With this help, it is hoped that residents impacted by the disaster would recover quickly.

"We are very concerned about the floods that have struck Talang Gabus, Tanjung Enim Hamlet, Lingga Village, and Pasar Tanjung Enim Village. As a company operating in the Tanjung Enim area, PT Bukit Asam Tbk feels responsible to help the afflicted residents. Therefore, we immediately deliver relief to help the community's urgent needs," said PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Assistant Manager of Community Engagement, Erwandi.

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Muara Enim Regency, Abdurrozieq Putrai, said that this flood had greatly affected the daily lives of residents. PTBA’s assistance was very beneficial and helped relieve the burden on affected residents.

"Currently, joint teams from various agencies are still working to evacuate and distribute aid to communities. Residents are advised to remain alert and follow directions from the authorities to ensure the safety of themselves and their families," said Abdurrozieq Putrai.

"This flood is a timely reminder of the importance of improving natural disasters response and prevention. There needs to be better coordination between the government, companies, and the community to ensure mutual safety and prosperity,” he said.
