President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Arsal Ismail said that increasing transportation capacity was a strategic step to support the company's performance.
In 2024, PTBA sets coal production target of 41.3 million tons, sales of 43.1 million tons, and transportation of 33.7 million tons.
To achieve this target, PTBA is collaborating with PT Swarnadwipa Dermaga Jaya (SDJ), a coal loading port services subsidiary of PT Titan Infra Energy Group.
SDJ handles the logistics of transporting coal from the Musi River Loading Port to the mother vessel at Tanjung Kampeh Port. The volume of coal transportation is expected to reach around 2.5 million tons this year.
"This collaboration aims to increase the realization of transportation and sales of PTBA coal, which will directly give added value to the company," said Arsal.
To increase transportation capacity in the medium and long term, PTBA signed a collaboration agreement with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT KAI in developing coal transportation on the Tanjung Enim Baru - Keramasan link on October 12, 2023. This project will increase PTBA's coal transportation capacity to 20 million tons per year. The groundbreaking of the coal handling facility took place on December 30, 2023.
"The increasing coal transportation capacity efforts will allow PTBA to continue contributing to maintaining national energy security," concluded Arsal.
