Bukit Asam (PTBA) Collaborates with Inhutani V for Reclamation and Forest Management

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) collaborates with PT Inhutani V in forest protection, reclamation, rehabilitation and forest management. This synergy reflects of both institutions’ commitment to contributing to emission reduction and sustainable development.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2023, the Director of Operations & Production of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Suhedi and the President Director of PT Inhutani V Dicky Yuana Rady signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding Forest Management and Utilization, Reclamation and Rehabilitation of Watersheds (DAS).

Based on this Memorandum of Understanding, PT Inhutani V will assist PTBA in the management and utilization of forest products, reclamation and revegetation, rehabilitation of watersheds (DAS), agroforestry, silvopasture and silvofishery, and other agreed-upon activities under this Memorandum of Understanding.

"This collaboration exemplifies Bukit Asam's commitment to sustainable development. As holders of Forest Area Borrow-to-Use Permits (IPPKH), we are committed to maintaining environmental sustainability by performing out obligations for reclamation, revegetation, watershed rehabilitation, and so on," said the Director of Operations & Production of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Suhedi.

Suhedi further stated that PTBA has implemented Good Mining Practice with decarbonization programs to support the Government in achieving the Net Zero Emission target by 2060.

As of December 2022, PTBA's total reclamation area reached 2,151.84 hectares (ha). Meanwhile, the total watershed rehabilitation area as of December 2022 reached 2,666.07 ha.

On the same occasion, President Director of PT Inhutani V Dicky Yuana Rady said that his organization was ready to collaborate with PTBA to preserve the environment. It is feasible that lands that have been reforested can be developed for tourism.

"I hope that later on, it can be developed into a tourism destination, and we can create added value," said Dicky.

PT Inhutani V officials including Director of PT Inhutani V Bakhrizal Bakri, Corporate Secretary of PT Inhutani V Ali Lukmanul Hakim, General Manager of Lampung PT Inhutani V Winanti Meila Rahayu, PTBA officials including Corporate Secretary Niko Chandra, General Manager PTBA Tanjung Enim Mining Unit Venpri Sagara, VP Environmental Management & Mining Support PTBA Amarudin, AVP Environmental Planning & Forestry PTBA Dedy Saptaria Rosa were also present at this event.
