Bukit Asam (PTBA) and KAI Logistik Sign an Agreement on Coal Loading and Unloading Services PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik) – a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) – that provide logistics services including its supporting services, signed an agreement on coal loading and unloading services at the Kramasan Coal Terminal.

Human Resources (HR) Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Suherman, and the President Director of PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik), Fredi Firmansyah, signed this agreement in Jakarta on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Suherman stated that the signing of this cooperation agreement was part of an effort to increase PTBA's coal transportation capacity. With coal reserves of 2.98 billion tons and resources of 5.81 billion tons, PTBA is one of the largest coal wealth managers in Indonesia. Increasing transportation capacity is a strategic step to accelerate the monetization of coal reserves.

"This agreement is projected to improve the reliability of coal transportation, thereby supporting the company's efforts to provide continuous energy for the country," said Suherman.

Last year, on October 6, 2023, PTBA and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI had agreed to collaborate to improve coal transportation on the Tanjung Enim - Kramasan route.

The Tanjung Enim - Kramasan coal transportation route will increase PTBA's coal transportation capacity to 20 million tons per year. PT KAI is preparing facilities and infrastructure for rail transportation. Meanwhile, KAI Logistik built the dock facilities at the Kramasan Terminal.

On December 30, 2023, PTBA held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Tanjung Enim coal handling facility to support the development of coal transportation on the Tanjung Enim - Kramasan route.

Fredi Firmansyah, President Director of KAI Logistik welcomed the collaboration and synergy with PTBA, particularly in terms of optimizing coal use in South Sumatra. "KAI Logistik will load and unload at least 20 million tons of PTBA-owned coal at the Kramasan Coal Unloading Terminal," said Fredi Firmansyah.

KAI Logistik will support coal loading and unloading activities at the Kramasan Terminal by ensuring the readiness and dependability of infrastructure, including the Train Unloading System, which has a capacity of up to 3,000 tons/hour/TULS and a maximum stockpile area capacity of 480,000 tons. Furthermore, the Kramasan Coal Unloading Terminal can serve 20 trains and 60 coal carriages every day.

"Not only will this collaboration increase capacity and capability, particularly in mining logistics, but KAI Logistik is also committed to continuing to support government programs, especially in the use of energy resources for national energy supply," concluded Fredi.
