Bidiksiba is a scholarship program granted to high school graduates or equivalent from underprivileged families in the vicinity of the company’s operations, enabling them to pursue higher education.
During the socialization, senior high school students from underprivileged families were provided with information about the registration procedures and guidelines for participating in this scholarship program. The event was attended by teachers, local government representatives, and village officials.
Dedy Saptaria Rosa, VP of Sustainability at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), stated that the company gives special attention to education in order to enhance human resources (HR) quality while simultaneously tackling poverty. This initiative aligns with the Asta Cita principles promoted by the government.
“The Bidiksiba program aims to support high-achieving students from underprivileged families to continue their education at the higher education level and compete in the professional world,” said Dedy.
PTBA collaborates with several prominent universities in Indonesia to organize the Bidiksiba program, including Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya (Polsri), Politeknik Negeri Malang (Polinema), and Politeknik Negeri Lampung (Polinela).
Weny Yuliatuti, Chair of the Bidiksiba 2025 Program, expressed hope that high-achieving students from underprivileged families would take advantage of this opportunity to obtain quality education. “We hope that the Bidiksiba program will have a positive and sustainable impact on the future of education in Indonesia,” said Weny.
From 2013 to 2024, 367 children from the areas surrounding PTBA's operations have received this scholarship. Of these, 121 are current students, and 246 are alumni, with many of the alumni now employed across various industries.
