Technology development and digitalization are strategic steps to increase efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy. This will also reduce the risk of human error," said the President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Arsal Ismail.
CISEA application integrates multiple systems at once. For mining activities, CISEA has Map Operational (MAPO), Slope Stability Radar, and Mine Operation System.
The position of mining equipment and operator performance can be monitored via MAPO, which is integrated with the Fleet Management System and GPS tracking. Slope Stability Radar detects changes or movements in surface slopes over time, ensuring the safety of mining operations. The Mine Operation System monitors processes from production and transportation planning, production realization, to coal expenditure and fuel use in mining.
For transportation activities, CISEA has Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), Cargo Tracking System, and Automatic Train Loading Station (ATLS).
SCADA automatically controls mining equipment such as Belt Conveyors. The Cargo Tracking System provides information on train arrival, transportation, and loading and unloading at the port or pier. ATLS is able to detect and load coal into train carriages efficiently and safely.
"The benefit of digitalization is that decision making becomes faster and more accurate. It also supports the implementation of the best mining practices (Good Mining Practice)," Arsal explained.
As for port activities, CISEA has a Coal Handling Facility, Vessel Track, and Customer Information System.
The Coal Handling Facility uses automation and real-time data analysis to optimize coal handling, storage, and transportation. Vessel Track monitors the movement and location of coal-carrying vessels. Then comes the Customer Information System, which informs customers about product availability, prices, contracts, and other important information.
"Not only to increase performance, but we also implement digitalization to improve services for consumers and the wider community," said Arsal.
The digitalization success earned PTBA several awards. Among them are the 2023 ASEAN Coal Award Runner-up in the ASEAN Energy Award in the field of Coal Handling and Distribution, four awards in the 2023 Indonesia Digital Innovation & Achievement (IDIA) Awards, and the 2023 Top Digital Implementation #Level Stars 5 in the 2023 Top Digital Awards.
