Bukit Asam (PTBA) Wins 5 Good Mining Practice Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

Bukit Asam (PTBA) Wins 5 Good Mining Practice Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Jakarta, September 26, 2024 - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Group, succeeded in winning 5 Achievement Awards for Implementing Good Mining Practices (GMP) from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The award ceremony was held in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/9/2024).

PTBA Tanjung Enim Mining Unit received four awards, the Main Achievement Award for Technical Management in Mineral and Coal Mining, the Main Achievement Award for Mineral and Coal Conservation Management, The Main Achievement Award for Standardization and Mining Services Management in Mineral and Coal, the Pratama Achievement Award for Environmental Management in Mineral Mining and Coal.

Apart from that, PTBA Tarahan Port Unit received one award, namely the Pratama Achievement Award for Mineral and Coal Mining Environmental Management. 

In his speech when opening the 2024 GMP Award, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia reminded the importance of balancing profit and responsibility towards the environment and surrounding communities. Bahlil also highlighted the importance of post-mining management that is oriented towards community interests.

"Post-mining activities are crucial, and the people must be taken care of. Large profits are important, but the people must also be considered. We cannot let the mining communities suffer," said Bahlil.

Suhedi, Director of Operations & Production at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), expressed his gratitude for the appreciation given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He emphasized PTBA's commitment to consistently implementing good mining practices.

"The implementation of good mining principles makes Bukit Asam's mining activities more effective, efficient, safe and environmentally friendly. This appreciation motivates us to continuously improve the application of Good Mining Practice. In this way, Bukit Asam can provide energy unceasingly to give benefits to the community,” Suhedi said.

The GMP Award is organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as part of the Mining and Energy Day celebrations, which are commemorated every September 28th.

This award aims to appreciate the achievements of business entities in implementing good mining technical practices, as well as to motivate business entities to continue achieving excellence in technical management, safety, environmental protection, conservation, and mining services.
