Bukit Asam (PTBA) Builds New Facilities to Increase Coal Transport Capacity
January 02, 2024
There are three new coal handling facilities under construction. First, there are two Train Loading Stations (TLS), each having a 3,000-ton-per-hour capacity with a rail loop. Next, there are two Conveyor System lines, each measuring 13 km and 17 km in length and having a 3,000 ton hourly capacity. In addition, there are three Dump Hoppers that can be utilized as dump trucks with capacities of 60 tons and 100 tons.
These facilities are being built as part of PTBA's collaboration with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI in improving coal transportation on the Tanjung Enim - Keramasan route. While PT KAI develops the facilities and infrastructure for the rail transit mode, PT Kereta Api Logistik (Kalog) constructs the dock facilities in Keramasan.
Vice President Director of MIND ID Dany Amrul Ichdan in his remarks stated his hope that the construction of this coal handling facility would not only benefit the Company but also the society.
"The advancement of corporate strategy must also bring benefits for sustainable community development. This is BUMN's sustainability mandate. This investment will mark a significant advancement in the future port development process. As a legacy of the current government, this construction will be carried on by the next one, producing a masterpiece for Indonesia and particularly BUMN," said Dany.
He also advised that BUMN strategic projects must incorporate participating industries within the framework of building local wisdom that involve the community.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Arsal Ismail explained that the effort to increase transportation capacity is a strategic step to support the Company's performance.
"PTBA is one of the largest coal producers in Indonesia with 3.02 billion tons of reserves and 5.85 billion tons of resources. Increasing transportation capacity is required to accelerate the monetization of coal reserves. This project contributes to the Company's growth by generating more revenue from increasing coal sales volume," said Arsal.
The Tanjung Enim - Keramasan coal transportation will increase PTBA's coal transportation capacity to 20 million tons per year. "With this additional capacity, PTBA can further contribute to supporting national energy security," Arsal emphasized.
As a member of the MIND ID Group, PTBA's strategic steps also support MIND ID's vision and target of becoming one of the Global Fortune 500 companies.
