Bukit Asam Renews ISO Certifications to Enhance Global Performance and Reputation

PT Bukit Asam (PTBA) has renewed its ISO certifications in efforts to maintain and improve the company’s reputation in the global business arena.

The renewed certifications are the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS), as well as the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System that is also known as the Bukit Asam Management System (BAMS).

ISO, or International Organization for Standardization, is an organization that sets international standards in management systems to measure the quality of a company or an organization. ISO certifications are crucial to assess PTBA’s credibility, as the company seeks to compete globally in line with the vision and mission to be a world-class energy firm with concerns for the environment.

The certification process was carried out by independent certification body PT TÜV SÜD Indonesia, which conducted an objective and professional assessment of the company’s implementation of the management systems all this time.

The certifications were handed over directly by PT TÜV SÜD Indonesia President Director Yuan Handayana to PTBA President Director Arviyan Arifin on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

PTBA has gone through a number of stages to secure these certifications, including pre-audit activities for the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018, surveillance audit, as well as final audit from February 1 to 10, 2021. As a result, PTBA was able to meet requirements for the ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 and was awarded the certifications.

The certification process took place in several locations, including at PTBA’s mining unit in Tanjung Enim, the Tarahan port in Bandar Lampung, the Kertapati dock in Palembang, and the marketing unit in Jakarta.
