Energi Shed Pioneer in South Sumatra
Six years ago, (2009/8/18th) Muara Enim Power Plant with capacity of 3 x 10 Megawatts was built. The first stone was placed by PTBA President Director, Sukrisno. It was the milestone for PTBA to enter power generation business. The power plant was built as solution for energy crisis in Southern Sumatra, to meet PTBA own electricity need. The power plant was built by PTBA and China Overseas Weltes with USD 41.4 million investment. Low calorie coal used as the power plant fuel.
After Tanjung Enim plant, PTBA has built another 3 power plants, namely 2 x 8 MW at Tarahan Port Lampung, 2 x 110 MW power plant at Banjarsari Mine entrance in Lahat and 2 x 620 MW power plant in Banko Tengah Mine entrance. PTBA next plan is to build 2 x 300 MW power plant in Peranap with investment of USD1.2 billion. PTBA was a pioneer on setting South Sumatra as one of national energy shed.
