PTBA’s Pagar Dewa CSR Program Wins at Ministry of SOEs’ Corporate Communications Summit
PT Bukit Asam’s (PTBA) corporate social responsibility (CSR) program in Pagar Dewa Village has won a gold award in the category of “Sustainability: Community Involvement and Development” at the BUMN Corporate Communications and Sustainability Summit (BCOMSS) held by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
The award for the best CSR program was handed over by Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir to PTBA President Director Arviyan Arifin on Friday evening, January 29, 2021.
PTBA’s gold-winning CSR program is an integrated circular agriculture economy program in Pagar Dewa Village. The company runs this program as it intends to demonstrate its consistency in delivering innovative programs that are in line with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Pagar Dewa CSR program, in particular, can help achieve SDG 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 15.
Pagar Dewa Village’s integrated circular agriculture economy program has been running since 2018, distributing financial resources of up to 1.5 billion rupiah (US$106,875). As many as 91 people have become the program’s direct beneficiaries who eventually enjoy continuous impacts, while about 35,000 people have become indirect beneficiaries.
Stakeholders in Pagar Dewa Village’s integrated circular agriculture economy program include PT Pagar Bukit Asam, farmers, consumers, packaging and fertilizer suppliers, cow breeders, Bokashi community, and PTBA.
The CSR program has ensured food and job availability for the people living around the company’s operational area. Moreover, this program also serves as the supply chain in the company’s CSR activities under the Bukit Asam Care program, which emphasizes efforts to meet people’s needs for healthy food.
PTBA keeps showing its commitment to building the economy and improving the prosperity of people living around the company’s operational area.
Pelakat Village in Muara Enim Regency, which is fostered by PTBA’s CSR team, has also previously won the Climate Village Program (Proklim) Lestari Award at the national level. The award was given by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. This is the highest award given to a village with the best innovations related to climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts from across Indonesia. Pelakat Village is one of the fostered villages under PTBA’s CSR program as well as Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL).Pelakat Village has teamed up with PTBA to green 200 hectares of land. There have also been training and coaching activities to support the people’s coffee plantation business and rehabilitate the river basin area.
