PTBA Collaborates with Pelindo II to Optimize Coal Transportation

To achieve the goal of developing South Sumatra economic corridor as a national energy storehouse, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) signed a Head of Agreement (HoA/master agreement) with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) to develop the transporting coal capacity and/or other commodities through rivers and ports in South Sumatra. 

In addition to HoA, PTBA's Director of Business Development Fuad I.Z Fachroeddin and Director of Transformation and Business Development of Pelindo II (Persero) Ogi Rulino also signed a joint Team Decreeon Friday, September 11, 2020.

Geographically located far from the seaport, PTBA requires adequate transportation infrastructure to transport coal effectively and efficiently to consumers.

PTBA Corporate Secretary Apollonius Andwie C explained that this cooperation aiming at cost efficiency and increasing coal transportation volume capacity. “Now is the time for PTBA to develop coal transportation that is more efficient in terms of cost and operation," he said.

This collaboration is expected to achieve coal transportation increase to 20 million tons, as well as other commodities, including coal downstream products.

Until June 2020, PTBA has produced 11.9 million tons of coal with positive transportation performance of 11.7 million tons. The success was the result of the continuous implementation of operational excellence and market expansion as the company's business strategy this year.
