Bukit Asam Quick Response to Help Flood Victims
Several Indonesian regions experienced continuous rain conditions at the beginning of year 2020. The intense rainfall caused flooding in some areas, including Jakarta and Lahat. The flood reached more than 1 meter in some areas in Jakarta. While in Lahat, the bridge that connected Muara Enim and Lahat was cut off due to flooding.
Bukit Asam CSR team together with the Rescue and Medical team acted quickly to provide assistance. To help the flood victims, Bukit Asam CSR distributed ready-to-eat food in Duri Kosambi, West Jakarta, Thursday (2/1). Bukit Asam CSR also distributed food packages, clothing, drinking water, and other necessities for communities affected by flooding in Jati Asih, Bekasi on Friday (1/3).
In addition to providing food, Bukit Asam also provided a health facility in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta, Sunday (5/1). At this health facility, flood victims could seek free medical treatment and get free food.
Meanwhile in Lahat, Bukit Asam CSR distributed blankets, towels, and food for toddlers and adults. This assistance was handed over symbolically to the District Head of Mulak Sebingkai, Lahat Regency on Friday (1/3).
Bukit Asam also coordinated with the government and related institutions to participate in restoring the environment. Hopefully these activities could at least ease the burden of the flood victims.
