Spreading Benefits and Kindness

The sun has not risen yet, and we were already so enthusiastic to start the new day. One by one we put our stuff in our suitcases and backpacks. Final checking every corner of the room and inside the furnitures was obligatory before leaving. "Make sure there are no items left behind. OK?" the chaperons always reminded us.

Especially today, we were heading for a new destination; that is, Kalianda. Located in South Lampung Regency, this subdistrict surrounded by beautiful beaches was approximately 67 kilometers away from Bandar Lampung city.

On the way to Kalianda, we stopped first at Lampung State University. We learnt about Lampung State University’s breakthroughs as one of the leading universities in Lampung Province. We also learnt about the University’s academic life. With this new knowledge, we were increasingly eager to learn more and encouraged to achieve dreams for our future.

The dream that was apparently implanted continuously by the SOEs to the surrounding communities through community development programs. The dream of the people to be more advanced, wealthy, and prosperous. One of ways this dream could be achieved was through BUMN Creative House program.

We had the opportunity to visit Bandar Lampung BUMN Creative House managed by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero). The RKB Bandar Lampung was very friendly welcoming us. They not only gave introduction about RKB, but also shared about the culture and habits of Lampung people. As the saying goes, “Di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit dijunjung,” meaning we have to respect the local culture. This important advice would certainly be applied in our next trip.

After Friday prayers, we went to Kalianda. The roads were winding that it put colors to our approximately 1.5 hours trip. Upon arrival at Kalianda, we were welcomed by a welcome dance performed by Kali 2 High School students.

Later they told us about this school’s activities and achievements. Some students gave a tour around the school to watch the extracurricular activities that day. However, the time has come for us to be apart. We then exchanged contacts to be able to have further discussion in the future.

Our trip today landed at Kedu Beach. At this beach, we conducted “operasi semut” or ant operation with the boyscouts. We walked on the beach and collected rubbish scattered along the beach that has ruined the beauty of this tourist destination. It felt good to be able to give benefits to others and the environment.
